Trammo DMCC, a subsidiary of Trammo, Inc., a leading global commodities merchandising and trading company, and ASOE Chile Diez SpA, a company owned by AustriaEnergy Group which manages renewable projects from development through construction and operation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for an exclusive green ammonia offtake of the entire output of a green hydrogen/green ammonia plant to be developed in Chile with an estimated annual output of 1 million metric tons of green ammonia.
This project in Chile would be one of the first ones commercializing green ammonia based on a 2GW wind park. AustriaEnergy has partnered with Oekowind, a company which develops and operates wind, hydro, and solar power plants, for this project in Chile. They have already accomplished the first important milestones in this project development and plan to start operating and producing green ammonia in Chile within the next five years.
Trammo, the world’s leading independent marketer and transporter of ammonia with more than 55 years of ammonia marketing and logistics experience, would offtake and market the green ammonia and transport it to customers around the world using its fleet of specialized refrigerated vessels.
Christophe Savi, Head of Trammo’s Ammonia Division, said: “Trammo is excited to participate together with its partners AustriaEnergy and Oekowind in the development of this major green ammonia production project which is aimed to become one of the most important supply sources in the entire southern hemisphere and an important milestone in the global decarbonization of ammonia production”.
Helmut Kantner, Managing Director of AustriaEnergy, said: “We are proud to achieve this substantial milestone for our HNH energy project, the first crucial step of our cooperation with Trammo, and look forward to jointly developing this major global project.”
Julian Weiss, Managing Director of Oekowind, said: “Our cooperation with Trammo brings us one very important step closer to the realisation of this outstanding project.”
